These Raleigh dentists get patients beaming
Whether you live north in North Hills or south in Garner, looking for great service, especially regarding your family’s dental care.
Here’s the latest Post of Happiness for great service from Raleigh dentists as selected by the Angie’s List Newsroom staff.
Tweaking a tween's teeth
Southpoint Pediatric Dentistry of Durham, N.C. remedied Diane Pressley’s daughter’s tooth pain. “My 11-year-old daughter was having discomfort in her mouth, so I called a few dental places to see who could take her the soonest,” Pressley says. “When I called Southpoint, they were extremely friendly and kind and were able to take her the same day or the next morning.
"When we got there the next morning and first entered the place," Pressley says, "my daughter and I were very impressed with the very nice jungle theme they had going on inside. It took her mind off of where she really was, and she was excited to be there. The facility was extremely clean and every one of the staff members was extremely nice.
"The dentist is very thorough and fully explained every detail of what needed to be done and printed off a detailed list of what everything would cost and waited for me to make a decision before proceeding," she says. "My daughter needed quite a bit of work done in her mouth, but they were able to do what they needed the same day to correct what was causing her pain at the moment. We had to come back later in the afternoon to get it done since she needed anesthesia and her procedure would take awhile. My daughter felt much better after the procedure. We are very comfortable with this facility, and we will be returning in the near future.”
'Not the pretzel's fault'
Dr. Eric Nicholson of Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry of Cary, N.C. provided gentle treatment to Danny Page. “I broke a tooth eating a pretzel … not the pretzel’s fault,” Page says. "The tooth had a big filling and was obviously ready to break, so I checked Angie’s List immediately for a recommended dentist. I am relatively new to the area and did not care for the dentist I used here.
"I picked Riccobene Associates based on reviews and took the first appointment available just two days later," he says. "They asked if I was in any pain, giving me the impression that they would help me sooner if need be. I did say I was sure I would need a cap for the broken tooth.
"I can’t say enough good things about this experience," Page says. "I was leaving on vacation in one-and-a-half weeks, and I pass out when given shots, so I'm not an easy customer! Dr. Eric Nicholson and his assistant were patient and caring. I needed three appointments to assess the problem, prepare the tooth and temporary cap and finally place and fix the bite on the permanent cap. They fit all of that in a week, so I had time to use the permanent cap before I left on vacation.
"For the tooth prep, Dr. Nicholson was so gentle with the shot I knew I had to have," he says. "Naturally, I was already worked up about it, and I didn’t even get dizzy much less faint! He also frequently asked how I was doing. This cap is perfect, the bite is perfect and Dr. Nicholson is my new dentist. Everything else was just as good: office staff, environment, punctuality, billing, parking, location: all grade A++++. And, [they had] good coffee in the waiting room. Who knew a dentist’s office could be a happy place?”
The caring manner of Dr. Elizabeth Rushin of Cary, N.C. makes going to the dentist a pleasurable experience for Kathryn Batts. “I’ve been seeing Dr. Rushin for two years,” Batts says. “I’d gone a long time without seeing a dentist and needed a lot of work done when I first went to her.
"Dr. Rushin has performed several root canals and put crowns on several of my teeth," she reports. "I opted for sedation dentistry to get these procedures done in a short amount of time.
"Starting with the initial assessment and throughout all the procedures I had done, Dr. Rushin and her staff have been wonderful, Batts says. "They are professional, caring, helpful and supportive. Dr. Rushin assessed the work that needed to be done, made a treatment plan, discussed it with me and we set up a schedule. Before each visit, she explained to me what was going to happen and someone on her staff always called the following day to see how I was doing. Michelle, the hygienist is wonderful! She’s caring and helpful and makes my six-month cleaning appointments a pleasure."
All in the family
Erin Ryals discovered Dr. Todd Huff of Fuquay Varina, N.C. after an unsatisfactory experience with another dentist. “Not only was he close to home, he was the nicest and most skilled dentist I’ve ever seen! At other offices, I felt like I was being taken advantage of. At Huff and Huff, I felt like I was cared about, almost like a family member.
"The great experience, starts from the moment you walk in the door — the front office staff is always happy and cheerful — and it continues straight down the line from hygienist to dentist," she says. "I always feel like I am receiving highly educated and effective work by caring individuals. They are also amazing with my five children.
"I’ve had general cleanings and work such as fillings and a crown done by Dr. Todd and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone," Ryals says. "They are always on the top of their game but never pressure you into doing anything. They have also gone beyond the normal call of duty and promptly and happily tended to my out-of-state mother’s missing crown and my husband’s dental emergency before he was actually a patient.”
About Posts of Happiness
At Angie’s List, we regularly hear from members who are ecstatic about outstanding service received from the companies they’ve hired. We think such great service deserves recognition, which is why we feature Posts of Happiness.
We ask our members for nominations when they rate companies with A's in every category. To qualify, a review must be at least 500 characters about a company's actual work (not just an estimate) and members need to assure us that they'd hire again.
After a nomination, our staff selects the most outstanding stories to feature. If we choose your nomination, your review will appear in our monthly magazine and even right here on our website.
