These Kansas City plumbers keep members plumb happy

Whether you live in Overland Park or in Lee's Summit, as a Kansas City homeowner, you’re looking for great service, especially with your plumbing needs and emergencies.

Here’s the latest Post of Happiness for great service from Kansas City plumbers as selected by the Angie’s List Newsroom staff.

Thoroughness discovers another leak

Cari Arnold found his go-to guy for plumbing after a Andy’s Pipe Dream of Olathe, Kan. saved the day. “I only waited one day for a non-emergency plumbing service call during a very busy time of the company. Many homes had frozen pipes because of the bitter cold,” he says. “They gave me an immediate, crystal-clear price quote. The cost was fair for high quality service. He didn’t rush out the door when he was done with the job. Rather, he checked the replaced valve several times for leaks before leaving. It was a good thing, too, because another slow leak was discovered in a nearby hose. He clearly described the issue and the effects it would have if left unfixed, without pressuring me to pay for the work to be done immediately.

"I have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, so I understand the concepts well, but I don’t enjoy plumbing," Arnold explains. "Andy’s Pipe Dream will be my go-to service for anything plumbing related from now on.”

Nice price for a Saturday clog

Sarah McElwee knows why she chooses Reddi Services of Shawnee, Kan. during a plumbing emergency. “I had a super experience with them,” she says. “I called them on a Saturday when my kitchen sink clogged. I tried to fix it, but the more I tried the worse it got. They arrived within 90 minutes of my call and had the job done in under an hour. He also gave me a great cleansing solution for the future and to keep my drain clear. The cost was under $100, and they didn’t even charge me for the Saturday call.”

Septic troubles

Michelle Jones appreciates good service, like the service she received from Bonner Springs Septic of Bonner Springs, Kan. “I left a message and they got back to me quickly,” she says. “They arrived on time and helped find the cap to the tank. They were happy to answer all my questions about the septic tank and its maintenance. They finished the job within an hour.

"They were extremely knowledgeable and responsive to my situation," Jones says. "This family-owned businessman may not be the most high tech, but he knows what he is doing and treats his customers well. I’d definitely recommend and use them again.”

Strong to the 'finich'

Even Popeye the Sailorman would be proud of A-1 Sewer & Septic Service of Merriam, Kan. for the work they did at Mary Kingsley’s home. “I put a lot of raw spinach down my garbage disposal (a bad idea) and the chopped up pieces came up on the other side of the sink. I tried to force the water down while running the disposal to break up the clog, but that made the problem worse,” she says.

“Then I thought I heard something in my dishwasher and found it full of gunky water," she adds. "When I opened the dishwasher door the water spilled all over my floor. A-1 helped during my plumbing emergency. The tech A-1 sent knew exactly how to clear the clog. He ran a metal line through the pipe that cleaned it out. He told me how to keep my pipes clean with soda and vinegar (1/2 box of baking soda and two cups of vinegar overnight), which I do on a monthly basis now. They didn’t even charge me extra for coming on a Saturday.”

About Posts of Happiness

At Angie’s List, we regularly hear from members who are ecstatic about outstanding service received from the companies they’ve hired. We think such great service deserves recognition, which is why we feature Posts of Happiness.

We ask our members for nominations when they rate companies with A's in every category. To qualify, a review must be at least 500 characters about a company's actual work (not just an estimate) and members need to assure us that they'd hire again.

After a nomination, our staff selects the most outstanding stories to feature. If we choose your nomination, your review will appear in our monthly magazine and even right here on our website.
