These Chicago plumbers draw critical raves
Whether you live north in Evanston or south in Hyde Park, as a Chicagoland homeowner, you’re looking for great service, especially with your plumbing needs and emergencies.
Here’s the latest Post of Happiness for great service from Chicago plumbers as selected by the Angie’s List Newsroom staff.
Emergency pipe burst
When a burst water pipe threatened Tracy Raiser’s finished basement during a cold snap, Raiser called on Vanguard Plumbing and Sewer of Chicago for help. “Not only did [owner Jan Pietraszek] answer his phone promptly, he also helped me walk through how to immediately shut off the main water line to keep the water from rushing onto my floor,” Raiser says. “He was able to schedule me for the following afternoon and fix my problem.
"I’ve used him for other plumbing-related projects," Raiser says, "and I’m so glad that I stuck with him to solve the problem.”
Lisa Henson appreciated Cotton Beal’s attention to detail and responsiveness when repairing two toilet tanks right after a long holiday weekend when he called Cotton Plumbing of Wheaton, Ill. “He immediately called back, and he was very accommodating to my schedule, even though it’s cold and dark as death out there,” she says.
“He even gave me a lesson in plumbing as it relates to toilets, such as how much water is used with each flush," Henson adds." This is great to know because I care about the equipment that’s going in my home. Thanks, Cotton. Now I can flush with confidence!”
(Not-so) flushable wipes
Greg Hannah’s crew from Hannah’s Plumbing & Maintenance of Berwyn, Ill. saved Angie Mendez from a smelly situation when she was sure nobody could help in time. “Sewer waste started backing up in my basement on the coldest day of the year, in subzero weather,” she says. “I thought I wouldn’t be able to find a plumber to clear the drain on the same day, but Hannah’s was able to come out within a couple of hours.
"The two-man crew was very efficient and did the job quickly," Mendez says. "I would and will definitely call them again. FYI: Don’t use flushable wipes!”
Same-day part replacement
Kevin Brown has relied on Plumb-It of Aurora, Ill. for numerous tasks since finding them on Angie’s List in 2013. He says they did not disappoint when replacing the blower on his water heater. “Several months ago, I called [owner] Scott Mrizek because my water heater was making unusual noises,” he says. “Scott serviced the problem and predicted I’d eventually need a replacement part for the blower. Since it was still under warranty, I decided to wait a while. Late in the year, it quit working, and when my wife called Scott, he remembered the same issue from months before. Since we would be without hot water and had schedule constraints, he managed to obtain and install the part the same day.”
About Posts of Happiness
At Angie’s List, we regularly hear from members who are ecstatic about outstanding service received from the companies they’ve hired. We think such great service deserves recognition, which is why we feature Posts of Happiness.
We ask our members for nominations when they rate companies with A's in every category. To qualify, a review must be at least 500 characters about a company's actual work (not just an estimate) and members need to assure us that they'd hire again.
After a nomination, our staff selects the most outstanding stories to feature. If we choose your nomination, your review will appear in our monthly magazine and even right here on our website.
