COMPLAINT: Deborah Mastronardi, Palm Harbor, Fla.
"I hired A-Aaron Appliance Repair/Top Cat Appliance to repair a dual burner on my glass-top stove. It was found to be an element that was estimated to be several hundred dollars to replace. I decided to pay the service fee and leave the burner as it was.
"When the stove was put back together, the control lock for the oven came on, causing the oven to be permanently inoperable. The technician explained that when the power was turned on, an electrical surge went to the display and burned it out.
"The solution would be to replace the display board and power board; however, I was told this was not worth fixing due to the expense."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want them to restore the stove to its preservice condition."
RESPONSE: R. Delayne Hiott, owner, A-Aaron Appliance/Top Cat Appliance
"The member was using a spray cleaner on the control board area while the tech worked on the requested burner repair. The tech was told to not perform the repair and reassembled the burner.
"When the appliance was plugged in, the control board went out. He deduced that the controls went out due to a surge of moisture from the cleaning spray."
