Chicago Dealership Offers Free Cars If It's a White Christmas
Forget Black Friday! One suburban Chicago auto dealership is looking to capitalize on White Friday.
Bill Kay Buick and GMC in Downers Grove, Illinois, is offering buyers who purchase a new Buick or GMC on Black Friday, Nov. 28, or Saturday, Nov. 29, an opportunity to get that car for next to nothing.
So, what’s the catch? It’s all about a white Christmas.
If Chicago sees more than 6 inches of snow on Christmas Day, the dealership (through its insurance company) will pay buyers back.
Of course, with any offer like this there is plenty of fine print.
Snow is measured from midnight Dec. 24 to 11:59 p.m. Dec. 25 at O’Hare International Airport’s official weather reporting station. Reimbursements cover only the final sale price and do not include taxes, title, license and dealer fees.
A suburban Chicago jewelry store made a similar offer to its shoppers for New Year’s Day this year. The shop vowed to refund holiday customers the price of their purchases if 3 or more inches of snow fell at O’Hare on Jan. 1.
Despite Chicago’s near record snowfall last winter, the National Weather Service reported only a little more than 2 inches fell on New Year’s Day, saving the store’s insurer about $150,000 in claims.
