Stamped concrete gives Portland walkway added appeal
When the concrete walkway in front of her home cracked, Angie’s List member Robin Hewitt of Portland, Ore., knew it was time to replace it.
After searching Angie’s List, she met with the members of highly rated G’s Concrete, a Clackamas, Ore.-based company, to discuss her ideas.
Instead of simply replacing the concrete, Hewitt wanted to spice up the design. She decided to use stamped concrete to give her walkway an extra aesthetic boost.
Hewitt says she enjoyed choosing the stamped concrete’s design with G’s assistance. “They gave me a book of patterns I could choose from for the stamped concrete and a book of colors I could choose from,” she says. “I needed two colors, and they guided me in this process. I was so happy with how the combinations of colors looked with the London Cobble pattern. I’ve always liked the look of cobblestones, and the brown-gold color complemented the trim colors of my house.”
Hewitt’s also thrilled with a brushed concrete pathway that G’s poured in her backyard. She is impressed with how perfectly this new pathway lines up with her already-existing slate patio in front of her shed.
According to Hewitt, this addition motivates her to finish the final landscaping section of her backyard.
Of all aspects of the $3,170 project, Hewitt says her favorite part was when G’s Concrete sealed the stamped walkway.
“After pouring and then stamping the concrete, they applied two colors,” she says. “They came back the next day to apply the sealer, which released the colors. It was such an amazing transformation when the sealer was applied. The colors popped and the brown was revealed within the gold. The look was way more beautiful than I anticipated.”
