St. Louis cable provider may be disregarding Do Not Call list
COMPLAINT: Gerard Carroll, High Ridge, Mo.
"I pay Charter Communications for cable service, but I'm receiving harassing telemarketing calls from them. The person was trying to sell me a service for $5 a month. I told her I was on the Do Not Call Registry, and she told me I wasn't on the National Do Not Call Registry. She said, 'We can call you whenever we want, as many times as we want.'
"Within a half hour, I received another telemarketing phone call from Charter. I called them back and eventually spoke with another man who said the list takes 30 days to update. He told me some people get five or six phone calls a day. If I could find another service that could supply me with the channels that I want, I would cancel service with them. This is absolute nonsense."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I don't want telemarketing calls from Charter Communications anymore. I want them to admit fault for making harassing calls."
