Shorewood homeowner hires contractor for door, window replacement
Angie’s List member Jesse Dercks knew as soon as he and his wife, Kathy, moved into their Shorewood, Wisconsin, home that they wanted French doors installed. “Our driveway is on the south side of our home, but our backdoor is on the north side,” he says.
So, he hired highly rated HomeSealed Exteriors in Milwaukee to replace a window with the French doors for $4,200. He says he found the company on Angie’s List.
“The French doors totally changed the flow of our home,” he says. “[The company] had great reviews, which is what got them in our top three. They really worked with us on options and were really knowledgeable. I liked that they had a small nearby location where we could view options.”
Dercks was so pleased with the work HomeSealed performed on the door that when he needed to have 50-year-old windows replaced a few months later, he knew exactly who to call.
“The windows really made our house cold in the winter and just made the house feel old,” he says of the home, which was built in 1921. “We like to bring the outside in, but half our windows could barely open.”
HomeSealed replaced 21 windows and did the trim work on them for $10,400. While Dercks says he probably won’t get as much of the value back if they ever sell the home, he believes the added comfort is worth it.
He says his favorite part of both jobs was working with the crew.
“The contractor on the job did a great job on trim work and let me pick between a few options right when he put them in,” Dercks says. “He really cleaned up well, too.”
