Second Opinion Saves Charlotte Couple's Countertop
When Louisa and Denis Wolowiecki moved to Charlotte from Ohio this summer, they noticed a granite countertop seam in the kitchen was uneven and unsightly. A granite fabricator told them the counter would need to be replaced, but just in case, they called highly rated Fireplace and Granite of Charlotte for a second opinion.
It was a decision that changed their home.
When Fireplace and Granite’s Amy Fistunenko took a look at the Wolowiecki’s countertop, she had surprising news: It could be repaired. The technicians that came out re-set the countertop and repaired the seam. It was, Louisa Wolowiecki says, one of the best seams she’s ever seen in a kitchen.
In addition, the technicians were able to lift and cut the countertop to install a new stainless steel Franke sink and faucet the Wolowieckis had picked out. That job, too, went smoothly.
But that wasn’t the best news, Louisa Wolowiecki says.
“Because we saved so much in not having to replace the entire counter,” she says, “I was able to splurge on a beautiful island granite countertop that coordinates perfectly with the existing counter.”
While they were at it, they took down the wallpaper, painted the walls and had new lighting and appliances installed. They’re also working with Fireplace and Granite to coordinate one last improvement – a glass tile backsplash.
Their kitchen already has been transformed. “I love the new island granite – it turned our island into a show piece,” Louisa Wolowiecki says. “But having said that, I’m so pleased with the granite repair and sink installation.
“It turned something unsightly into a perfect integration.”
