COMPLAINT: Tracie Simpson, Seattle
"Alpha Ecological Pest Control sprayed for ants and set mice and rat traps and bait. I've been a customer for a year and a half. At first, their service was great. The last three scheduled visits resulted in the [technician] not showing, and customer service couldn't locate them, either.
"Each had to be rescheduled, and on the last one, they didn't spray but used a 'new method' to attract [the ants] to take poison to their nests. The result: I shared my bathroom with ants for three weeks! I gave up, as the method clearly wasn't working. I called to complain and request a refund, and they sent someone out to actually spray. It's been two weeks now, and no one has called back."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like a refund for the treatment that didn't work, and I'd like them to void the invoice for the last service they claim they made but that I can't see proof of."
The member informed Angie's List the company agreed to void the balance and that she is satisfied.
COMPLAINT: Margaret Noonan, Bothell, Wash.
"Urban Element Tree Care & Landscaping pruned and cut down trees on three properties I own. They overcharged me for two trees in my yard and my neighbor's yard. This was supposed to be applied to a credit for a future job.
"After receiving advice from other companies, I realized Urban Element made mistakes, such as pruning the fruit trees while they had leaves on them and moving a magnolia tree. I decided not to use them for future jobs. When I spoke with them, they said they'd send me a check for the balance. After two months and many calls, I've yet to receive a refund."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want a check for the amount they overcharged."
