COMPLAINT: Josy Moyer, Portola Valley, Calif.
"A-1 Roofing & Rain Gutters was to retile my porch roof for $41,500. After tearing off the roof, A-1 indicated the chimney would be very difficult to work around.
They presented a $20,380 addendum to remove the chimney and lay a new roof. The old decking was rough sawn while the new decking is smooth and waxy.
A-1 said it would look fine once it was finished [but] this is an eyesore. I sent an explanation letter and paid $50,500 instead of the total $57,500 charged. A-1 responded I should pay or they will file a mechanic's lien."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like written confirmation that I've paid for the work done."
STATUS: Penalty box
