COMPLAINT: Warren Abel, San Antonio
"I hired Don Harris Enterprises Inc. to replace my upstairs carpet; repair cracks in the walls and ceiling inside my house; install hardwood floors in the family and living rooms; replace damaged window sills and baseboards going into the family room; and paint the exterior of the house.
He was also supposed to put in a custom bookshelf in the master bedroom, replace the subfloor in the game room and hall and repair all of the cracks in the house - but there are still a couple left.
Mr. Harris started in June and had most of the big stuff done in six to eight weeks. He was very slow on progress, but the quality was pretty good. However, after the largest chunk of work was done, and the second of three checks cut, he disappeared and refused to answer or return phone calls.
Thankfully, I didn't sign over the third check. By my calculation, he still owes me about $5,550 for unfinished work."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like Don Harris Enterprises Inc. to complete the custom bookshelf and finish the crack repair work. I'd also like the appropriate amount of money refunded for the jobs that won't be completed - about $2,100."
STATUS: Penalty Box
COMPLAINT: Carol Cox
"I hired Alamo Custom Fence to install a wrought iron fence. Bob Krist, [the owner] gave me an estimate and said it would be completed in two weeks.
I gave him an $880 deposit and, two months later, the job still isn't done. I've asked for my deposit back but my phone calls aren't being returned."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like Alamo Custom Fence to at least return my deposit."
STATUS: Penalty Box
