San Antonio-area glass and mirror installers offer installation tips

Pause and reflect on advice from these three highly rated glass and mirror installers in the San Antonio area.

Have you seen any trends when it comes to mirrors and glass in the bathroom?

Randy Yates: Frameless glass showers are becoming very popular. Also, larger mirrors over the bathroom vanity with holes cut out for lights, plugs and switches.

Ron Alexander: We have been doing a lot of frameless doors.

John Lynch: Oil-rubbed bronze framed doors. We also do a lot of brushed nickel framed doors.

Do you offer warranties?

Yates: We do. Obviously we can’t warranty glass against breakage. But any types of hardware on showers and things have warranties, as well as our labor. If a shower leaks, we will come back to fix the issue for up to two years.

Alexander: We have a one-year warranty.

Lynch: If there are problems, such as insulation not working on a window, or if there’s a leak, we’ll fix it.

What advice can you give consumers hiring someone to do this type of work?

Yates: Make sure that you’re comparing apples to apples when getting bids. The important part is to ask questions. Ask for as many details as possible when getting a bid, and ask for it all in writing. Lead times and warranties are always important as well.

Alexander: You need a good tile man if you’re doing tile. Everything needs to be exactly right with that for a frameless shower.

Lynch: That’s hard to say. Call the right person. Find a quality company. If they trust me to do the work, that’s important.

What’s an average price range for a project like this?

Yates: A standard framed shower door starts at around $285. A frameless shower door starts at around $700.

Alexander: That depends on what they want and the design. A door is usually around $1,200.

Lynch: A tub enclosure is normally from $350-$650. Corner doors can range from $650-$1,250.
