Sacramento painting company accused of being a no show
Sacramento area painting complaint
COMPLAINT: Lee and Betty Smith, Rocklin, Calif.
"We hired The Painting System to paint our house. We gave them a down payment but had to wait until we had the funds to do the work.
"When we were ready, they were supposed to come over, but no one ever showed. We set up another time but no one showed or called. After a third time, we called, but they seemed to have no idea what we were talking about.
"They yelled at us and said something about giving our money back before hanging up. Now, when we call, no one answers."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "We'd like a refund of $289."
Sacramento landscaping complaint
COMPLAINT: Marianne O'Malley, Sacramento, Calif.
"I hired Capital Nursery to prepare my front yard for two new trees and sod, transplant some bushes and modify my sprinkler system. The workers didn't remove enough old trees to prepare a proper bed for the sod and one of the trees.
"Within weeks, the tree was nearly dead and major brown spots covered 20 percent of the lawn. I talked to Capital and showed them the topsoil was less than one inch deep in the brown areas.
"Capital stalled and then wrote a letter saying they don't have to do anything because we're now beyond the warranty period. I have pictures documenting the condition of the yard.
"Capital also tried to add $831 for extra sprinkler work they undertook without my consent. I objected and they lowered the cost to $675, but this still felt unfair."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like them to replace two sprinkler heads; excavate the brown areas; remove old tree roots; prepare the soil to support the lawn; re-sod the brown areas and replace one of the trees, making sure the ground is sufficiently free of old tree roots and the soil is prepped to support the new tree. I'd like them to provide a 90-day warranty for this work."
