Rowlett contractor does unsound remodeling job, homeowner says
I hired Dalrock Energy & Insulation in Rowlett, Texas, to soundproof and remodel a portion of my downstairs condominium. I signed an online agreement with owner Robbie Frakes, so he could start the $7,450 job.
To insulate, he first tore down the old drywall in the dining room, kitchen, bedroom and closet. He installed the new insulation and soundproofing, and then sealed it with new drywall.
Since the job was nearly finished, he said he would return the next day to complete the work. But he never showed up, because he claimed a family emergency. That’s when I noticed the poor quality of his work.
He never installed new baseboard, closet rod and shelving. The drywall bows out in places, and some seams are coming apart. He installed the vent cover backward. On top of that, the soundproofing isn’t effective.
He never returned my house key, so I had to re-key the locks.
I want a refund of $5,500.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
