Request to fix leaking Portland skylight goes unanswered

COMPLAINT: Patty Davies, Portland, Ore.

"CR Tile & Remodeling Inc. installed three tempered glass skylights into my thermal patio roof. The posts and trellis surrounds were to be sanded and stained.

"I paid a $9,250 down payment and finally got somebody to take measurements. After the panels arrived, I was told 3-foot-wide skylights were not possible in those panels but that they could create 2- by 4-foot ones.

"I understood why and agreed but never got refunded for one skylight. The men who put up the roof did a good job, but one skylight did not match up well with a window.

"It took several phone calls to get somebody to do a bit of paint touch-up, and to finish sanding and staining the posts and surrounds. However, they asked for the final payment before the staining even started.

"The slots at the bottom where the trellises fit were never cleaned out and stained. They became inaccessible after the trellises were in. The slots are still full of grit and dirt.

"When the job was finally done, it took two verbal requests and three phone calls before I finally received the warranty and an invoice. It was an unpleasant experience, and I would never use this firm again.

"As soon as the rain started, my husband saw that one of the skylights was leaking. I have since called them five times to fix the skylight, and I get promises to repair it, but nothing has been done."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: I want the leak around the skylight properly fixed.

STATUS: Penalty Box
