Raleigh HVAC company resolves consumer's complaint
I hired All American Heating & Air Conditioning of Raleigh, North Carolina, to replace my upstairs HVAC system.
The new heating system wouldn’t fit in the attic due to low clearance, so they used half of a closet in one of the bedrooms. They left a large hole in the ceiling, which causes hot air to pour into the bedroom, which I use as an office.
The Cary code official said the installation didn’t meet code and would not sign off.
All American maintains that I was responsible for building a wall in the closet. My understanding was that they would leave my home in compliance with Cary’s building code.
We have been going back and forth since for two months with no results. It takes multiple contacts to get them to reply, and then they continue giving me the runaround.
I want them to build a finished wall in my bedroom closet that meets the code requirements, is neat and won’t harm a potential home sale in future years.

It was our understanding the member was going to take care of building the wall in his closet. Since the complaint, we have arranged to have the issue resolved to his satisfaction.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
