Portland carpenter builds new stairs for Hillside home
Member Wink Gross of Hillside recently hired highly rated Young and Son Woodworks of Portland, Ore., to remodel his 1970s-style staircase, including demolishing the old stairs and railings, then realigning and constructing the new stairs.
Here’s what Gross had to say about his experience with the Portland carpenters: “Young and Son worked closely with us to design a new staircase within our budget. The old stairs had to be completely removed and new stairs constructed. As the staircase is the only access to the bedrooms, we were concerned about how much time it would be out of commission. They managed to do the work so that we only had one day without access by stairs, and they installed a temporary ladder to cover that day. They did a beautiful job with the finished carpentry and helped with the carpet selection. Because this project tore up the center of the house, one of the things we appreciated most was that they were on the job virtually every single day until the project was done. We never felt that we had anything less than their full attention.”
