A Porch Where Everything Goes As Planned
Dale Siar works from home, so when his latest home improvement project came along, he needed simplicity, not a distraction.
The project: A new 18 x 12 screened porch to replace the original deck at his 30-year-old Charlotte home. Siar turned to highly rated Exterior Additions of Indian Trail.
“We weren’t looking for just a handyman to come do it,” he says.
From the beginning, simplicity ruled. Everything was laid out in a specific plan, Siar said, and once the job began, it went like clockwork. “First day, foundation done,” he says. “Next, building of frame, done.” Then fans, painting, lighting, electronics and, of course, inspections. “All kinds of inspections,” he says.
“One of the things I liked was there was one person to deal with,” Siar says. Even when Siar introduced an intentional complication – the installation of four custom-made Eze-Breeze windows – there wasn’t a hitch at all. They were installed a day after delivery.
“There was no handling of anything,” he says. “I’d wave at them through the window.”
The porch, he says, turned out exactly as he had hoped – good quality, sturdy and no code violations, of course, for about $21,000. Siar is contemplating buying a space heater to extend the time he and his partner spend on the porch. “We literally live out there now,” he wrote in his review.
Siar also wrote that he’ll be thinking of other areas Exterior Additions might help him improve. After all, he said, it’s simple. “This,” he wrote, “was a great, easy project to work with.”
