Plano homeowners keep cool with new sunroom
Bud Barlow liked the quaint brick patio behind his Plano, Texas home, but he and his wife, Bonnie, wanted something to help beat the heat. Remembering the sunroom at their previous home, Bud turned to Angie’s List to find the right service provider.
“As this is our retirement home, we thought the sunroom would serve us for many years, providing a comfortable spot to relax closer to nature, as well as additional space,” he says.
He found highly rated Sunshine Sunrooms & Remodeling in Dallas on the List. He looked at pictures of other jobs the company had done on its website, then called to get a quote. “They specialized in sunrooms and had a lot of photos showing their work,” he says. “The quote we received was reasonable and their sales person was very knowledgeable.”
Bud says they experienced some hiccups while obtaining permits as well as minor issues that made the job go longer than expected. But Sunshine Sunrooms sorted everything out quickly and professionally, and Bud says he and Bonnie are completely happy with the company and its product.
With the table and chairs, couch and exercise bikes that Barlow put in the new room, there is not much that he can’t do out there. The air conditioning unit allows him to enjoy the great outdoors without burning up during the hot Texas summer. “We’re able to relax, eat, work puzzles and exercise in it,” he says. “Our two chihuahuas absolutely love sitting out there where they can see the yard.”
The $24,500 project changed the entire house for the better, and other people have noticed, according to Barlow. “That sunroom has become a focal point of the house. It’s very inviting, bright and comfortable. And it’s allowed us to make some extra room in other parts of our home,” he says. “In short, we love it!”
