What's the advantage of hiring a wedding planner for your big day?
Wendy Robinson: "It helps couples really organize their planning. It saves the couple so much time and effort and they can utilize dollars the way they want."
Caroline Ward: "I can run around and do all the things that need to be done at the last minute and the bride can feel confident they're getting done."
Jennifer Thye: "All the details you've imagined for your day are taken care of. You don't have to stress about anything. You can enjoy your day, your family, and your time to shine."
As a wedding coordinator, what are some of your job duties?
Robinson: "We meet with the couple on a regular basis, devise a budget, design a theme and educate them on etiquette and the overall idea of the wedding. At the end, we help them wrap up their planning and take over the day-of logistics."
Ward: "I meet with all the vendors and I run the rehearsal. The day of the wedding, I make sure everything is calm and cool, that the flowers are where they need to be, that the reception site is all set up, all kinds of stuff."
Thye: "Organize, organize, organize. We keep track of your vendors, what you ordered, when you have to pay them, when they deliver, set up, pick up, etc. We do so many little things you can't really put into words."
How do you charge for your services and what's the cost?
Robinson: "We start out by showing clients packages, but nine times out of 10, we do custom packages. The cost depends on what the couple needs and wants. I do charge a flat rate after I've interviewed them."
Ward: "I have packages, but I don't have a set price. My cost goes on a case-by-case basis. I decide the price after I sit down with the bride and groom and they decide what they want."
Thye: "I charge a combination of flat rates and hourly rates."
What makes your service stand out from what other wedding planners offer?
Robinson: "I help the couple remember why they're getting married. I try to help them focus on what they're really celebrating, what happens after the wedding: the marriage."
Ward: "My years of experience and customer service. I make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. I treat each bride as my own daughter."
Thye: "I really feel strongly that when you hire a planner, you're hiring an individual. I think my style, personality and talents will appeal to the right bride."
