Phoenix transplant learns about Arizona landscaping during backyard remodel
Phoenix Angie’s List member Willis Shook didn’t know what to expect when he decided to redo his backyard landscaping. According to Shook’s review, being new to the area limited his ability to plan. “Being a recent Arizona transplant, I was somewhat unfamiliar with landscapes in Arizona,” he says.
To help him make sense of his situation, Shook hired highly rated AZ NativeScapes of Chandler, Arizona, after he received estimates from a couple of companies. He says the owner, Craig Rawlings, had years of experience at his disposal. “Craig was quick to lend a helping hand and provided me with plenty of ideas,” Shook says.

The final cost of the project was $11,500. The job included a new retaining wall, lawn regrading, an irrigation system, planting sod, planting shrubs and a flagstone patio area. Shook says they kept him informed of where they stood regarding progress and the budget.
According to Shook, AZ NativeScapes followed up with him after the work was completed to make sure all was well with the plants and equipment they installed.
Shook says they transformed the area that used to be an empty dirt lot. “The end result is amazing,” he says. “They turned it into something you might see at a country club.” He says he plans to call them again when he updates the front yard.
