Phoenix area TV repair shops explain their business

Do you repair all brands of TVs?

Lapatra: "I only repair large TVs. It could be Sony, Panasonic or Mitsubishi."

Scott: "Yes. We are manufacturer-authorized for Panasonic and Toshiba. We service Samsung, Philips and Sony."

Rozinov: "No. We repair Sony and Sharp, and we also work on other brands for extended warranties. We do most major brands."

What's the most common problem you encounter with TVs?

Lapatra: "Just normal electronic failures."

Scott: "There's really not one that is more common. There's about a 5-percent failure rate on all TV parts."

Rozinov: "They all have different technologies that have their ups and downs, so there's not one common problem."

How long do repairs generally take?

Lapatra: "Five to seven working days."

Scott: "Anywhere from a day to a week, depending on if you have to wait for parts."

Rozinov: "In most cases, a repair should normally take one to two weeks."

Do you give free estimates on repairs?

Lapatra: "No, because we don't have a storefront."

Scott: "We give general estimates for free. As far as an actual diagnosis, that's not free."

Rozinov: "No, because we do in-home service, so we have to actually come to the customer's house."

What's the average cost to repair a TV?

Lapatra: "It's hard to say. It can run anywhere from $200 to $1,000."

Scott: "Anywhere from $100 to $500 for a smaller TV."

Rozinov: "Repairs range from $300 to $500."

What makes your business stand out from the competition?

Lapatra: "We're honest, and we're reasonably priced."

Scott: "It's a family business, so good customer service."

Rozinov: "So far, we don't see much competition because we're all authorized for different brands."

Will you make a house call? If so, do you charge extra for this service?

Lapatra: "A house call runs $39.95, and we evaluate the set and give an estimate."

Scott: "Yes, that's mostly what we do. That's included in the diagnostic fee."

Rozinov: "Yes, there is a per-mile charge. We have a standard area where the charge is $75."
