COMPLAINT: Frank Rooney, Philadelphia
"I hired City Wide Roofing Inc. to install a new roof. They came out the next day and gave an estimate, called a day or two later, then came back to do the job. I gave them a glowing report.
"The roof had a 15-year guarantee, and [a few months later], I heard a dripping sound on my bedroom ceiling. About a week later, water spots appeared. I called the company, expecting the same service as when I purchased. I was wrong.
"After numerous calls, they couldn't find my paperwork, so I supplied the information from the receipt. They told me no one was working that day and to call [later] to speak to the scheduler, which isn't my job.
"I called the salesman, who said he'd call back in the morning but didn't. I called City Wide again in the morning, and they told me they thought the job was done and that they'd call me back. They didn't.
"My 15-year roof hasn't lasted six months. They're beyond excellent when you purchase their service and product, but pray you don't have any further problems."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like City Wide Roofing to honor their 15-year warranty by returning to my home and making sure the roof is installed correctly, and that there are no leaks."
