Philadelphia handyman fails to return deposit, homeowner says
I hired Duffy’s Home Improvements of Philadelphia to replace five interior doors. David Duffy measured for the doors.
He charged an additional fee for him to get the doors, so I offered to pick them up myself. He gave me the measurements and said they were standard doors, but when I got to the supplier, they were customized doors.
After discussing this with him, I decided I didn’t want to continue with the service and requested my $200 deposit back. He said that would be no problem.
Since then, I’ve sent several text messages, made calls and sent a letter about my deposit. He said he forgot about returning my money and said he would get the deposit back to me. He never did.
I want my $200 returned.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
