COMPLAINT: Kathleen Moyer, Vancouver, Wash.
"Mike stated they would sand the house and apply filler to areas. I understood everything would be sanded before painting.
"Some of the areas they filled were primed before sanding, but they didn't remove nails, an old unattached wire or address these issues with me. They just painted over them.
"They primed over a board, which needed to be filled and sanded. When he came out to check, I pointed out the wire, lifting paint and the board, plus a few bubbles in the porch paint.
"He stated the bubbles are my old paint lifting and he would fix it in the spring. He also said they don't remove old wire.
"The actual painters were very nice and work well together, but the supervisor needed to give them more time to do the prep the way he told me it would be done.
"I know the house would look much better if they had prepped the way he showed me they would prep. I feel the quality of work he promised wasn't met."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want him to refund some of the money."
RESPONSE: Mike Wedde, owner, Mike Wedde Painting
"I will refund $150. I believe we fulfilled our contract, but will do this to try to satisfy this customer.
"She was not in complete agreement on what my contract stated. We sanded, filled and painted as per the contract. I tried to make this old house look as good as possible for $3,000. That is the price of a paint job.
"I think she was looking for more of a restoration, which would cost three times that amount."
