Please read these rules before entering the Service Provider Article Contest (“Contest”). You agree that, by submitting an entry, you will be bound by these Official Rules and you acknowledge that you satisfy all contest eligibility requirements. You may be referred to as “entrant” or “you” in these Official Rules. “Sponsor” means Angie’s List, Inc., 1030 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202.
Eligibility. VOID in Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont, and where prohibited by law. If you are: (1) an individual legal resident of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia; (2) eighteen (18) years old or older at the time of entry; you are eligible to enter the Contest. Employees of Sponsor and their immediate family members (spouses, domestic partners, parents, grandparents, siblings, children and grandchildren) and Sponsor affiliates, advisors or advertising/promotion agencies (and their immediate family members) are not eligible to enter the Contest.
How to Enter. You may enter the Contest beginning at 12:00:01 a.m. August 25, 2014 and ending at 11:59:59 p.m. on September 30, 2014 (“Contest Period”). All time references are in Eastern Time. To enter, you must: (1) be a service provider that has an overall rating of “B” or higher on Angie’s List at the time of entry; (2) not have any outstanding payments or invoices owed to Sponsor at the time of entry; and (3) submit one to five qualifying articles to the Angie’s List Service Provider Article Contest website at www.angieslist.com/join-angies-list-experts-contributor-network.htm. Qualifying articles will: (1) provide customers with educational information, advice, or useful tips about your service or industry; (2) avoid endorsing or promoting your company; (3) be written by you or a representative of the company (and the company must own the copyright to the content); (4) be original articles that have not been previously published
; (5) be an article that was not previously submitted to the Experts Contributor Program; (6) be no fewer than 300, and no more than 800, words; and (7) include information that is useful or applicable to the area you service. You may, but are not required to for entry, upload with your submission one photograph per article that illustrates the topic of your article. By submitting an article(s) and/or photograph(s), you warrant that you have the right to submit the article(s) and/or photograph(s) to Sponsor for this Contest. By submitting an article, you further grant Sponsor to use your likeness in conjunction with this Contest or the publication of any submitted article, regardless of whether the article is a winning submission.
Limit five articles per each unique Angie’s List Service Provider Identification Number during the Contest Period. Sponsor will not publish or accept for publication unauthorized content from other authors, companies, websites, newsletters, or other sources. Any such submissions are ineligible to win. All entries become the sole property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Sponsor’s computer will serve as the official time piece for the Contest.
No purchase is necessary to enter, nor will any purchase increase your chances of winning.
How to Win. The potential winning articles will be selected by a panel of judges from Sponsor’s editorial staff (“Panel”) from eligible entries received during the Contest Period. The Panel will select one (1) grand prize winner, one (1) runner-up winner and one (1) second runner-up winner. The Panel will select the grand prize winners and runner-up winners based on the quality of the articles and consider criteria, including but not limited to, whether the articles: (1) meet all of the above-described eligibility requirements; (2) are consumer focused; (3) contain information that customers can actually use and apply; (4) contain information that is verifiable and accurate; (5) are original; and (6) are interesting and well written.
The potential prize winners will be notified by Sponsor via telephone or e-mail no later than November 1, 2014. If Sponsor discovers that any potential prize winner failed to meet the eligibility requirements, failed to comply with these Official Rules, or failed to claim the prize within forty-eight (48) hours of notification, such potential winner’s claim to the prize will be forfeited and the Panel will select an alternative potential prize winner based on the above-described criteria at Sponsor’s sole discretion. In such case, Sponsor will follow the same notification process and any selected alternate potential winner shall be subject to the same requirements for responding to Sponsor’s comment for eligibility to claim any prize.
Prize. Sponsor will award one (1) grand prize winner one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), one (1) runner-up winner five hundred dollars ($500.00), and one (1) second runner-up winner two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00). Angie’s List is not responsible if the prize is lost, stolen, destroyed or used without permission. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize should become unavailable for any reason. If the prize is lost/stolen/damaged once in the care of the winner, it will not be replaced. The winner will be responsible for paying all costs and expenses related to the prize that are not specifically mentioned, including, but not limited to, taxes, and any other expenses that might reasonably be incurred by the winner in receiving or using the prize.
If it is determined that the entrant misrepresented themselves in any way that would make them ineligible for the contest, Sponsor reserves the right to choose another winner. Sponsor will notify the potential winner by phone or e-mail no later than November 1, 2014, and he/she will be required to sign an Eligibility Statement and Release. The prize will be awarded “AS IS” and WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied (including, without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose). Sponsor will award the prize to a minor’s parent or legal guardian if a minor, in any state where the age of majority is not 18, wins a prize. The parent or legal guardian must sign and return all required documentation.
Sponsor reserves the right to publish any articles submitted for the Contest, regardless of whether the articles were winning submissions.
Odds of Winning. Odds of winning are approximately one in 30,000. Actual odds are dependent upon the number of eligible entries received.
Additional Terms. Sponsor may, to the extent permitted by applicable law and in its sole discretion, change these Official Rules or cancel the Contest at any time; or modify, terminate, or suspend the Contest should viruses, worms, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes beyond Sponsor’s control corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of the Contest or submission of entries. Sponsor is not responsible for: (a) lost, misdirected, late, incomplete, or unintelligible entries or for inaccurate entry information, whether caused by you or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest, or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of entries; (b) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest; (c) any error in the operation or transmission, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, or for technical, network, telephone, computer, hardware or software, malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate transmission of, or failure to receive any entry information on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website; or (d) injury or damage to your or any other computer resulting from downloading any materials in connection with the Contest. Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, disqualify any individual found to be: (a) tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or website; (b) acting in violation of these Official Rules; or (c) acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. If your entry is incomplete or if you use robotic, automatic, programmed or similar entry methods, your entry will be void. The authorized subscriber of the e-mail account used to enter the Contest at the actual time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant and must comply with these Official Rules in the event of a dispute as to entries submitted by multiple users having the same e-mail account. The authorized account subscriber is the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domains associated with the submitted e-mail addresses. No greater than the number of prizes stated in these Official Rules will be awarded. All decisions of Sponsor in connection with this Contest are final.
Miscellaneous. The Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and each of the fifty states; provided, however, in the event the specific laws, rules or regulations of any of the United States concerning contests, giveaways and/or Contest render this Contest non-compliant, then entries received from those jurisdictions shall be VOID. All rights reserved. To accept a prize pursuant to this Contest, a winner must sign and return all required documentation, which may vary depending on the winner’s state of residence, and shall be required to agree, on behalf of him/herself and his/her heirs and assigns, to: (a) allow Sponsor to use winner’s rights of publicity, including winner’s name and/or likeness, without compensation now or in the future, in connection with the Contest and for Sponsor’s promotional use, in any legal medium; and (b) release from liability and hold Sponsor and Sponsor Group (defined below) harmless from any loss, injury or damage to property or person, including death, and reasonable attorneys’ fees and court costs, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prize or participation in the Contest, even if caused or contributed to by the negligence of Sponsor or Sponsor Group. “Sponsor Group” means and includes Sponsor, its affiliates and their respective owners, members, directors, officers, employees and agents.
The names of the grand prize winners and runner-up winners will be posted at www.angieslist.com/experts no later than November 1, 2014.
