Nothing but praise for these Los Angeles dentists
Whether you live north in Van Nuys or south in Long Beach, you’re looking for great service, especially regarding your family’s dental care.
Here’s the latest Post of Happiness for great service from Los Angeles dentists as selected by the Angie’s List Newsroom staff.
Catching up on cleanings
Joan Kaneshiro put her trust in Dr. Veda Afashi of Fountain Valley, Calif. for her semi-annual exam. “Well, first of all, I’m behind in my appointments, which is my fault,” Kaneshiro says. “Dr. Veda is by far the best dentist I have ever had, and I am into my sixth decade on this earth!
"Once you meet Dr. Veda, you immediately feel comfortable," Kaneshiro says. "She’s sociable, loves to laugh and her work is exemplary. If you’re looking for a dentist, you have to give Dr. Veda a try. I guarantee you will never go anywhere else!”
Patricia Cervantes is all smiles, thanks to Dr. Donald Yan of Sierra Madre, Calif. “Dr. Yan is one of the best dentists I have seen in my 79 years,” she says. “He takes his time and explains everything. He wants you to be satisfied with his work. He and his staff are friendly, and the office environment is relaxing.
"I must take meds before having any procedure, including cleaning," she explains. "His office staff will always call ahead to remind me of my appointment and to take my meds. I have had to have him stop during a procedure. He was very kind and patient telling me to relax and that it was no problem. He said he wanted me to be comfortable. I highly recommend him.”
Dr. Arthur Laos of Los Alamitos, Calif. gave Joel Walker the royal treatment with a crown placement and two fillings. “I found the cost of the work to be in line with what I’ve experienced in the past, maybe slightly above, but in my opinion it’s very much worth it,” he says. “Dr. Laos has one of the best bedside manners that I’ve ever come across, is extremely patient, does excellent work and has a well-equipped office.
"I especially like being able to look at the close-up digital images of the tooth or teeth when a dentist is explaining what is wrong and what needs to be done," he says. "A picture is worth a thousand words. The office is clean, and the staff is friendly and professional. If you’re looking for a change, I highly recommend this office.”
Avoiding root canal
Dr. Jeffrey Cohen of Long Beach, Calif. brushed away Diane Tankard’s dental woes. “I developed pain while on vacation,” she says. “I found a dentist who told me I had an abscessed tooth and needed a root canal done soon. I made an appointment when I got back to be seen within a couple of days. An X-ray was taken of my afflicted tooth. Then Dr. Cohen came in. He explained that I did not have an abscessed tooth, but rather an abscessed gum, which had been healed by the antibiotics I had taken. No expensive root canal was needed.
"This was the first time I had been to the dentist and not been told I needed costly work," she says. "I went on to have a complete set of X-rays taken. Everything was fine, even the two wisdom teeth I had been concerned about. I have found my new dentist.”
About Posts of Happiness
At Angie’s List, we regularly hear from members who are ecstatic about outstanding service received from the companies they’ve hired. We think such great service deserves recognition, which is why we feature Posts of Happiness.
We ask our members for nominations when they rate companies with A's in every category. To qualify, a review must be at least 500 characters about a company's actual work (not just an estimate) and members need to assure us that they'd hire again.
After a nomination, our staff selects the most outstanding stories to feature. If we choose your nomination, your review will appear in our monthly magazine and even right here on our website.
