New stucco exterior becomes envy of the neighorhood

After 30 years, the siding of Bonnie Bailey’s Cape Cod home in Fallbrook, California, needed a makeover. “In many places, the wood siding was rotted, warped and just bad,” she says in a Angie’s List Pages of Happiness member review.

When Bailey was ready to do an overhaul, she hired highly rated Superior Stucco & Stone based in San Marcos, California, for the $13,000 project.

In addition to being among the lowest bids offered, Bailey says Superior Stucco & Stone was willing to do “a lot of extra things the other companies didn’t want to handle.”

The company replaced an opening left in her fence with a new section and demolished an aluminum shed and hauled it away, without disturbing other areas important to Bailey.

“They were very careful of my decades-old stag horn fern,” she says. “I bought a new pot and they used some of the excess cement to make a new beautiful mailbox planter for me.”

Bailey says Pavel Vejmelka, Superior Stucco & Stone’s general manager, was particularly patient. “We met with Pavel several times. He answered all my questions,” she says, and notes that her decision to change the color scheme after work began wasn’t an issue. “They [color samples] sure look different than the little 2-inch squares,” she says. “We ended up changing our colors completely after we saw the samples.”

Now that the bumpy siding is gone, Bailey has a exterior that is getting praise from neighbors and other contractors. “Pavel kept telling me I would have the best house on the block, and I do,” Bailey says.
