"I hired Durham Hill Nursery to repair a drainage problem behind my home that related to a retaining wall built by another company. A significant amount of water coming down a hill was draining onto my property from behind the wall, causing the backfill behind the wall to wash out onto my lawn.
Durham Hill cleaned up the lawn area, replanted the grass and installed a 12-inch catch basin that was supposed to collect the water and divert it under the wall. After one of the first significant rainfalls the next spring, I noticed that the backfill was again washed out and settled onto the lawn in the exact same place.
Water was also flowing over the top of the wall because the basin was incapable of handling the amount of water, and was being covered with leaves and debris coming down the hill.
Even if the basin could have been kept clean, there's no way it was going to be able to divert any significant amount of water. The fix was completely useless and did nothing to resolve the issue."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like a refund of $2,246."
RESPONSE: Thomas Earl, owner, Durham Hill Nursery
"The drain we installed was completely covered with mud and leaves. [Because of that], it couldn't work."
