Here’s the latest Post of Happiness for great service from Charlotte plumbers as selected by the Angie’s List Newsroom staff.
A subpar sump pump
Neil Roeth appreciated the thoroughness of Jim Dickerson Plumbing & Electrical of Charlotte in diagnosing his sump pump. “The plumber was very professional and efficient,” Roeth says. “My pump was running but not pumping anything. He methodically stepped through all possible causes for why the pump might not be working (blockages in valves, the pump, etc.) until concluding that the pump itself had to be the problem.
"He was very careful when removing the old pump from my house to ensure there would be no drips of sewage," Roeth says. "Dickerson had a replacement pump in stock, which was ideal because that meant they were able to complete the job in a few hours.”
Replacing a water heater
Repeat customer Kimberlee Carpenter finds herself in good fortune with Rightway Plumbing of NC in Charlotte. “I always have good luck with this company,” she says. “The tech arrived promptly as promised, removed my old water heater and installed the new one. I had a lot of questions about the replacement water heater. The owner of the company [John Gallagher] spoke with me about the options. I was considering a tankless versus a tanked model and called John countless times. It’s pretty awesome when the owner will speak to you over and over about your options.
"I have the utmost respect for this company due to the integrity of the owner," she says. "I would never consider using any other plumbing company.”
A wake-up call
Eleanor Reali reached out to All Hours Plumbing of Charlotte for help. “I called All Hours at 6 p.m. with a broken toilet valve, which required me to turn off the water to the entire house,” she says. “Brett [Eschert, owner] was very willing to come out that night, but as it would have been after 9 p.m., I opted for the next morning.
"Before we hung up, he offered advice on how I might make the repair myself, which I considered extremely good service, especially as it would have cost him the work had I been successful," Reali says. "I wasn’t, but the advice was accurate. In the morning, Brett called before he arrived, as he said he would, arrived on time and completed the work quickly and affordably.”
Three thumbs up
Adam Myers gives Pathmaker Plumbing of Charlotte two thumbs up. “It’s a pleasure to work with an honest practitioner of his craft,” Myers says. “John [Stokes, owner] replaced the handle and the inner workings, so my master tub wouldn’t leak. He told me up front that if he couldn’t get to the parts because of the way the tub and parts were installed, he may have to go through the dry wall, but that would be a last resort.
"He ordered the parts and when they came in, he called and we set up a time to get to work," Myers says. "John was able to replace the parts without having to cut into my dry wall, saving me hundreds of dollars. He showed me the defective parts, explained how he replaced it and the testing he did to ensure the issue was fixed. I am impressed with his professionalism, manner and approach to his craft. If I had three thumbs, he would get three thumbs up instead of two."
