Member seeks refrigerator repair resolution with Cibolo appliance repairman
I hired 5 Star Appliance Repair of Cibolo, Texas to replace the top and bottom gaskets on my refrigerator. It cost $400, and the top door and bottom freezer door were blocked for the seal to set.
I didn’t open it for three days, and the seal was weak. The refrigerator also seemed to not be running properly. I started taping the door shut until owner Brian Vukson said he could come.
A week went by, and I called again and left a message. Another week went by, but no return call, so I called again. He explained he’d been out of town and would call to schedule when he got back to the office.
He wasn’t interested in replacing the gasket. We agreed that I’d have another repairman evaluate the door, and another company said the seal is distorted and not sealing properly, screws were left loose, air gaps were visible from outside of the door and they recommended new door seal.
Vukson hasn’t contacted me since viewing the receipt. 5 Star did fine replacing switches on the washer, but I’ve been taping the door shut at night and between meals so the refrigerator isn’t turning on every 25 minutes. I would like the refrigerator returned to level of service it was giving before this seal was installed.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
