Member says St. Louis alterations company’s stitching was crooked, uneven
I took a pair of men’s wool pants to Alterations Tailoring by Helen in St. Louis to be shortened and hemmed at the bottom.
They took my garment the same day I needed it. The first time they hemmed the pants, the hem stitching was crooked and uneven, and the fabric was puckered.
I told them there was no rush, so they said they’d redo it. However, it turned out worse the second time. You could see the stitching from the outside of the pants, and the fabric was still puckered.
I was told that this was probably due to the tension in the machine. They wanted to try it a third time, with hand stitching. I declined and took my garment elsewhere.
I was told they don’t refund money, but I paid for services that were not performed properly.
I would like a refund of $33 to pay for the original alterations that weren’t performed correctly and the cost of having the pants tailored correctly elsewhere.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
