Member says Norfolk mechanic overcharged for oil change
I took my car to Tune Up Plus – Quality Car Care on Little Creek Road in Norfolk, Va., for an oil change and to determine why my car made an unusual noise. I requested any cost over $25 be cleared with me first. I stayed and waited on site. No one approached me about the cost. At the time of payment, I was informed I couldn’t use my debit card, but I had to pay cash — an ATM was nearby. They charged me $90, and although the mechanic tried to explain the extra charges, it didn’t make sense.
I signed a receipt, but it was switched with another paper that said $0 fees were paid and it was a maintenance-free checkup. It didn’t even mention the oil change. A week later, I checked the oil tank and it showed no signs of oil. Manager Shawn Allen said the dipstick must be bent and to bring the car back for him to re-do the oil change. I don’t trust them, so I didn’t return.
I want a $90 refund and information as to how they handled this situation internally.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
