Member says insulation was improperly installed
I hired Nordic Air Mechanical of Shingle Springs, Calif., to remove and replace my air ducts and insulation and seal all leaks. They were also supposed to clean the attic before replacing the insulation.
The bid included taking the insulation out around the plenum and replacing it. The old insulation is still around the plenum. New ducts are attached to the old insulation, which may contain mold.
I’m disappointed that the work was not done according to the bid and what was discussed. Another contractor told me that the ducts need to be secured better to avoid leakage and that the ductwork to the dining room and kitchen needs to be modified. The airflow is lacking.
The insulation in the attic was also removed. I have since found that some of the old insulation is still there under the new insulation.
The insulation material they used was very loose and messy. When I found the insulation in the heater closet, they vacuumed it, but never fixed the problem. Thus insulation kept falling. I have vacuumed it several times.
I’ve taken measures to keep the insulation from going into the heater closet, but it’s still leaking. Two different companies told me that not enough insulation was installed.
I have called five times and emailed twice, but received no response.
I would like $1,500 so I can pay someone else to complete the work.
