Member says Henderson dental office overcharged for cleaning
My husband went to Dr. Eric Avitia of Henderson, Nev., for a regular dental cleaning. We were overcharged for the service, which included a cleaning, examination and X-rays. We were charged $230 despite my husband having no dental problems. They never gave a reason for the X-rays and he was never told how much he would be charged.
When I called their office, I was bluntly told, “Last time we charged him $90 and he didn’t complain.” Indeed, he had been told at the time the charges were high because it was his first visit, and next time it would be much less.
I’ve sent the practice a fax asking for an adjustment on these charges, but haven’t heard back. I am willing to pay $90, and thus would like a $140 refund.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
