Member says Carrollton company didn’t carry tires as promised
I hired National Tire & Battery of Carrollton, Texas, to replace two front tires and balance and rotate the others to the rear. I located a store online and found one type of tires I thought would be good for my heavy car.
I called and talked to NTB, but they said the tire wasn’t at the location I chose. The person I spoke with on the phone helped me choose another tire. It cost more, but was a better tire with a higher warranty and better rating. She assured me the store had these in stock. A few days later, I called the store and verified they had the tires in stock. I told the person who answered I wanted two tires, but he quoted me a price for four.
When I arrived for my appointment, they said the tires cost $110 each. The Internet price was $15 less per tire, but I didn’t have anything with me to show that at the time.
After I had the work done, I called the store and spoke with the manager, who told me he’d be at the store until 4 p.m. I didn’t say why I called. I arrived at 3:25, and employees told me he already left.
I had a printout of the Internet price and spoke with the employee who processed my purchase the day before. He said the price difference was because the tires I bought had a different speed rating than the ones online. He said the store didn’t carry the ones I found online, even though they told me they were in stock. I feel like this was a bait-and-switch tactic.
I want a $32.48 refund.
