Member says Baytown contractor erected poorly built porch
I hired EMS Home Remodeling of Baytown to build a covered porch with four columns and 3 feet of decorative brick on the bottom of each column. I wanted the columns stained on top. Owner Eddie Schwartz didn’t wipe off dirt and mud on the columns before he applied stain, and it was applied incorrectly. He used a paint roller, which covered unevenly. You can see mud and roller marks on the post.
The decorative brick was veneer stone and was done sloppily. He charged me for eight boxes of stone for $75 a box and only brought four boxes for the porch. I double-checked with the workers on the boxes.
He didn’t buy any corners for the stone and didn’t fill in gaps where the stone meets, so it looks sloppy. The ceiling porch began falling apart after two months because it’s supported incorrectly. Eddie recently returned to inspect the problems, but now he won’t return my phone calls.
I want a $500 refund, for EMS to repair my porch ceiling and roof, tear down the veneer stone and apply new stone with corners, and refund me for the four boxes of stone that weren’t used.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
