Massages tables and chairs for every preference
Two of the most popular reasons to visit a massage therapist are for relaxation and pain relief. Because your therapist will want you to be as comfortable as possible during the massage, they will have the right table or chair to ensure your body is in the perfect position to relax.
Portable massage tables are lightweight yet strong enough to support the weight of an average sized adult. Most of these tables are able to fold for easy mobilization. Stationary tables are tables that are not portable and do not fold. Many times these particular tables offer storage areas underneath where a massage therapist can store sheets, towels, oils and other massage essentials.
There are also massage tables for those who happen to have mobility issues. These tables would be stationary tables that have moving lifts to assist a client who may have physical limitations.
The types of massages performed on tables include Swedish massages, deep tissue massages, stone massages and sports massages. The type of padding that you need to use depends on the type of massage given. Sometimes a massage therapist will choose a thicker padding for extra comfort for the client. Most clients will be asked to disrobe to where they feel comfortable and are given a sheet or blanket to cover themselves with.
Most tables have extensions on them including face cradles, a headrest, arm extenders and forward arm shelves. All of these extensions can add to the comfort of the person who is getting a massage. The face cradle will help insure
proper alignment. Some of these headrests are stationary, but there are adjustable rests as well, which are easily adjusted to suit the client.
The traditional massage chair also has many different features such as a face cradle, the ability to adjust based on the person’s height and thick padding for comfort. Like tables, massage chairs can also be stationary or portable. Many traveling therapists will opt to use a chair because of the easy portability and the setting where the massage is being performed.
Massages performed on these chairs include: Shiatsu, deep tissue, Swedish and also massage techniques of kneading and tapping on your back, shoulders and neck. Most chair massages are relatively shorter than those performed on a table, and the client remains fully clothed and there are generally no oils or lotions used in this type of massage.
If you feel more comfortable either on a table or chair, be sure to discuss this with your Charlotte massage therapist, as special arrangements can be made.
