Marietta gutter company, homeowner disagree on cause of flood damage
I hired Gutter Creations of Marietta, Georgia, to replace my gutters. However, after the worker replaced my gutters, it rained heavily and my basement flooded.
I found that one of my gutters had slanted back toward my roof, which caused the gutters and downspouts to overflow. He fixed the gutter, and said that the flooding resulted from a hole in the roof from roof rot. He should have noticed that the gutter was installed wrong the first time. Another company inspected the issue and said the gutters weren’t installed properly.
I want $2,000 plus materials to fix the roof, $4,000 to replace the flooring in the basement that was damaged, and $3,000 to replace rotting wood in the basement area under the stairs for a total of $9,000.

A hole in the roof caused the water issue and the one-foot section of gutter in question to slope toward the house. I reattached it. But if the member doesn’t fix the roof, it will probably happen again.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
