Loveland homeowner says roofing company never performed awning work

Member complaint

I hired Guaranteed Roofing Specialists in Loveland, Ohio, to replace two awnings on my home. Owner Lee Cottongim was paid in full. He was quick to pick up the insurance money as soon as it came in, but the work was never done. I was put off, then went out of town, but left the exterior light on so he had access to electricity, as he requested.

Then, winter came. He said he was in the hospital, then he said other people needed their homes repaired first, because he told me he could do my awnings when it is cold outside, but not roofs.

He was paid, and I never heard from him again, despite numerous attempts to contact him. I feel I was cheated by him — that after so much time has passed, he never planned on replacing the awnings. I don’t have a copy of the contract because he still has not sent me a copy, as promised. As he left my home, he picked up all my papers along with his, and left. He hasn’t returned those either, despite numerous requests that he do so.

I have made many attempts to get in touch with him, but so far have failed. He does not answer his phone. I want the money he was paid to do the awning work returned to me.

Have a complaint?

Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement. Subject: Contractor never did work

I too have issues with the same person either not doing the work or doing subpar work. Yes, eager to take the money, but not back to to the work properly. I have a phone number and address where I know you can contact him.
The best of luck getting your money back!
