Long-planned bathroom remodel includes extra storage
When Reisterstown, Maryland Angie's List member Dixie Leikach and her husband, Neil, purchased their home in 2008, they knew they wanted to renovate the master bathroom.
Dixie says it even came up at a house-warming event with family and friends. “We talked about the bathroom remodel at that party,” she says.
Although the idea existed early, Dixie wasn’t ready to jump into a remodeling project right away. “I wanted to live in the house for a few years, get settled and figure out what I needed to change,” she says.
This waiting strategy gave the Leikachs time to decide what they wanted the updated room to include. They eventually pulled the trigger and had the room overhauled in the summer of 2012.
When it came time to select a contractor to complete the work, Dixie says there was no question that highly rated NLT Construction of Randallstown, Maryland, was the company for the job. She says she and her husband have become friends with Vice President David Cedrone over the years.
Cedrone completed many projects for the Leikachs in their previous home that they lived in for eight years. “We call him for any construction project of any size,” Dixie says.
The total cost of the project was $50,000, but that price included adding storage spaces throughout the home and some work on the master bedroom closets as well.
Dixie doesn’t recall having a strict budget, but she felt the price was fair for the work done. “The final price is always what I was quoted [by Cedrone], unless I make changes,” she says.
Once the work was completed, Dixie enjoyed reminiscing and taking in the drastic changes. “It was fun looking back at photos,” she says. “You forget how things looked before.”
The Leikachs now have the bathroom they longed for and plenty of storage in their home. “I love my bathroom and bedroom,” Dixie says.
