COMPLAINT: Sandra Dente, Wilmington, Del.
"I hired Castle Windows to install windows in my home. There's a lifetime transferable warranty in effect and when I replaced the carpet, I noticed water stains on the floor where water was leaking in through the window.
"When I called Castle to ask them to resolve this, the person I spoke to implied that I was trying to cheat the company out of money and that the contractor I consulted was just trying to get work. I then asked him if that meant they would not help me, and he stated that he first had to evaluate the damage.
"I told him I had no objection and he could do the work. Then he made an appointment with me to evaluate the damage, but he never showed up.
"Yes, the problem with the window that caused the leaking was satisfactorily corrected, but the fact that Castle Windows did not take responsibility for the damage the faulty installation caused is, in my opinion, not the correct way to do business.
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want them to correct the water damage caused by incorrect installation or reimburse me for the correction."
RESPONSE: Chris Cardillo, president, Castle Windows
"The homeowner has been contacted and the concern has been resolved to their complete satisfaction."
