Las Vegas pet groomer earns customer’s loyalty
The experience was reminiscent of the scene from the movie “Pretty Woman,” when a Beverly Hills Rodeo Drive shop manager refused to serve Julia Roberts’ character because she didn’t have the pedigree they preferred.
In this scenario, the client was Candace Webster’s schnauzer and poodle mix named Brie.
“I’m sorry, we only groom pure-bred dogs,” the Angie’s List member recalled the manager telling her when she requested an appointment for her pet. When Webster asked the manager if she was joking, Webster says the manager replied that they prefer their clients not be around mutts.
“It really was unlike anything I’ve ever heard,” Webster says.
That particular groomer’s loss became Urban Style Dog’s gain. That’s where Webster, of Henderson, Nevada, has taken Brie for more than two years.
Brie’s usual appointment includes a cleaning and haircut, which Webster says she likes. Brie’s grooming cost $25 per visit. While the price is reasonable, Webster says she likes taking Brie to Urban Style Dog because the shop owners are kind to her dog.
“I know that Brie is really just a mutt, but she’s my beloved mutt and I want to her be clean and clipped,” Webster says. “She adores everybody at Urban Dog and they adore her. They remember Brie each time and she always is shown affection. They treat her the same way my husband and I do.”
Webster says she has recommended the Las Vegas-based groomer to several pet owners. Although she and her husband, Jerry, recently moved to a new home farther away from Urban Style Dog, she continues to make the trip for Brie’s bi-monthly grooming. “I wouldn’t go anywhere else,” she says.
