Landscaping firm criticized for Tampa palm tree issue

COMPLAINT: Barbara Madden, Tampa

I hired Bayscapes Inc. [609 S. Himes Ave.] to landscape my yard. Formulating a design and the actual installation went great. The problem is getting any service after I paid for everything.

One of the 16-foot palms died. I asked them if I could replace the single trunk with a two-trunk palm of the same kind and size.

They said that would be OK. After much calling, Bayscapes finally removed the dead palm and scheduled to plant a new one in four to six weeks.

I called eight weeks later and, after numerous calls and messages, they said it would be a couple more weeks because they received the wrong-size tree.

I called a month later and they said that they did call and left me messages on my cell and home phones — which wasn't the case. They've not called since and I still don't have a tree.

DESIRED RESOLUTION: I'd like the new palm tree planted or a refund.
