Description of work "Matt [Rancourt, the owner] installed our new koi filter. He beautifully integrated it into the existing pump system and it's very well hidden. He poured the concrete foundation and even tinted it to match the yard. [Following] his advice to get rid of an algae bloom, I added a UV pump and a couple of months later I had crystal-clear water and happy koi.
"He also helped us with a sick koi, as his company can do microscopic testing of koi scrapings, and we saved the fish. I got some new koi from him at a great price. The baby platinum koi survived the catfish and is doing great. Matt rocks!"
Member comments "Absolutely wonderful! Matt came back to ensure all is running well. He really cares about koi and does a great job. I'd hire him again anytime!"
From the company: "We charge $125 per service visit, per hour," Rancourt says. "Typically [a customer] spends between $250 to $500 a month on maintenance."
Rancourt recently completed a 15,000 gallon koi pond in Atherton at a cost of $150,000. "If somebody wanted a small pond or water feature, it could only cost them a couple hundred dollars if they're willing to do some of the work themselves," Rancourt says.
