Kitchen remodel gives Naples' homeowners more space to enjoy
Angie’s List member Keith Raygor and his wife, Summer, of Naples, Florida, wanted a kitchen remodel for a long time, but delayed several years due to a sluggish economy.
Recently, the Raygors decided to finally move forward with the project. “We wanted to expand the kitchen a bit and make it more functional for larger family gatherings,” Keith says.
After speaking with two contractors, the pair chose highly rated Don DeFlavis Construction in Bonita Springs, Florida, for the $29,000 project. They previously had contracted with the company during a home addition in 2000.
Keith says owner Don DeFlavis helped them come up with a kitchen design. “There were a couple ideas we knew we wanted, but our contractor immediately gave us a couple great ones we’d never considered, which opened up the whole space,” he says. “Also, he recommended a kitchen designer. I would normally be hesitant about spending a bit more money, but she took the layout and made it work perfectly for us. It turned out to be a wise move having her involved.”
The Raygors chose quartz for their new countertops in their kitchen remodel. “After researching most of the options available ... the zero-maintenance of quartz compared to the periodic sealing of granite was a factor, as well as the choices in colors and textures,” Keith says. “Because of the slight price difference, quartz was an easy choice to make.” They also liked that they could just wipe up spills with no worry of discoloration or stains.
The Raygors also wanted a floor that would last and chose porcelain tile. “We initially looked at bamboo, and then laminates, but each of those had elements we didn’t care for, especially for long-term use,” he says. “Tile offered many choices in look and feel.”
Raygor says he was pleased with how smooth the remodel went. “For us, besides having a new kitchen, [the project] was about paying for peace of mind,” he says. “That’s what Don DeFlavis Construction gave us — mostly because of their experience and dedication to high quality work.”
