Is It Safe to Use Wi-Fi at a Hotel?

There are better ways to secure your computer in hotel's networks...

Most, if not all hotel networks still have wired connections for the guest rooms. Carry your own wifi broadband router with you, connect it to the hotel's wired network and connect your laptop to your own wifi access point. As long as your own wifi network is protected by WPA2 and not WEP, your computer is an island in the hotel wifi network and as such, it's not accessible from other computers.

Alternatively, use your smartphone's hotspot feature and connect your computer to your smartphone for internet access. The internet connection through your smartphone probably will be faster than the hotel's wifi network. That certainly is the case with 4G smartphones...
