COMPLAINT: Mary Jo & Shannon Patke, Columbus, Ohio
"Energy Tech Insulation insulated our brick home from the outside with blown-in insulation. However, when they filled the holes on the outside of the house, they didn't do a competent job with the mortar.
"We have had them out multiple times to fix this problem. We spoke with the owner, Glen Kubinski, and he said he would call us back. We still haven't heard from him. The insulation works fine, but the problem is with the mortar patches.
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "We want to hire another company to do the work to our satisfaction and have Energy Tech reimburse us."
COMPANY RESPONSE: Glen Kubinski, owner, Energy Tech Insulation
"We insulated their home by drilling 5/8-inch holes into the mortar joints. We try to match the mortar to the best of our ability. There was damage on the home from another contractor before we started the work.
"I pride myself on quality work; however, to assume that we could drill the mortar and make it look exactly as it did on an older home is very difficult, if not impossible."
Editor's note: The Patkes say since their report that Energy Tech sent out another service provider to examine the mortar. The company says the leftover white on the bricks will wash away with rain. Therefore, the members say the matter is resolved.
