COMPLAINT: Marie Siroky, Indianapolis

"Fine Painting Inc. painted my house two years ago. Per the warranty, they recently came back to fix some paint bubbles and some rusted hinge parts. They suggested replacing some of the wood, which would be at cost, to keep the problem from happening again. I agreed, and they gave me a verbal quote of $350. They came and did the work, and I received an invoice for $999. I asked why the owner didn't call me about the increase, and they said that was a good question. They then explained that the job took longer than anticipated and the wood cost more than they thought it would. They said they could go down to $675, but they would be barely break even at that price."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like the cost reduced to the agreed upon price of $350."

STATUS: Resolved

Siroky and Fine Painting Inc. agreed to a reduced invoice of $500.

Brownsburg gutter repair complaint

COMPLAINT: Natalie and Robert Floreancig, Brownsburg

"We hired M One for roof, gutter and siding work. The roof and siding were done well, but the gutters were awful. They put silver screws on brown guttering and there's a gap where the gutter joins together. They've already changed some of the screws, just not all of them. Also, they didn't extend the drip edge far enough so water is dripping behind the gutter."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "We want M One to repair the gutters."

Indianapolis home inspection complaint

COMPLAINT: Gloria Kohler, Indianapolis

"I was buying a home and I hired Cornerstone Inspection Services to inspect it. The house had issues that [the seller] had to get fixed, so my realtor and I made out an independent inspection response on the items we wanted addressed. I paid $100 more for Cornerstone to do a reinspection so I could be sure the general contractor took care of the needed repairs. Cornerstone waited till the night before I was closing to come out. They checked and found some of the repairs to the water heater and electrical pump hadn't been done correctly. When I moved in, I found the seller didn't address some of the other repairs."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want the $100 I paid for the reinspection returned to go towards the repairs I have to make."

"I inspected the items that the member's representative asked me to on the day and at the time they asked me to do so. The items weren't corrected and I issued a report at that time. I kindly revisited the property free of charge on two separate occasions as the general contractor was supposed to have repaired the items prior to each visit. I wasn't informed by the member's representative to reinspect the items that are still defective."

STATUS: Stalemate

Fishers home security complaint

COMPLAINT: Stacey Hunter, Fishers

"The builder of my new home contracted Superior Security & Sound to install an alarm system. They installed the alarm system in my home prior to my closing. After moving in, I had to contact Superior several times to correct a faulty keypad. They did come out once to replace the keypad, but they didn't bring a new keypad with them. I also received several different quotes during the same visit about how much it would cost to install alarm contacts on the windows. After getting fed up, I called to cancel my service. They told me I was in a three-year contract, but they could never provide any paperwork showing where I had signed up for it. They finally came and removed all of their equipment and gave me a handwritten note stating my contract was canceled. However, they keep billing me."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like a formal letter signed by the owner saying they've canceled my contract and I owe their company nothing."

STATUS: Resolved
